Passive and Active Preparatory Beats

Video
2.1.1 - Rocky Mountain.pdf

Conduct “Rocky Mountain” at a quick tempo. Begin the song by giving a small passive beat 1 and an active beat 2.

A point about using your left hand - It’s not always necessary to keep it active. See how the conductor’s left hand stops beating and simply rests once the song is up and running. The conductor brings back the left hand to help with the cut-off.
