Guido Arezzo’s, Sarah Glover’s, John Curwen’s and Zoltán Kodály’s developed solmisation syllables: Do—Re—Mi—Fa—So—La—Ti—D0 are enormously helping the intonation of the young string players. After each consonant there is a deep or a high vowel. These vowels are helping the stopping fingers to produce optimal intonation. The sang syllables will gradually be internalised and develop into inner hearing. Inner hearing leads the stopping fingers on the fingerboard.
