Intonation Awareness Exercises
In order to guide singers effectively, it is important for conductors to be able to hear where problems arise, analyse and identify these problems, and provide helpful feedback with practical solutions.
There are many musical elements that need a lot of care in singing, teaching, and conducting in order to create and maintain good tuning. Select the following exercises to explore some of these issues, to develop your intonation awareness, and to consider how the conductor can support and encourage singers in overcoming these kinds of challenges when they arise in choral singing.
