NYCOS Go for Gold – Inspiring Music Education through Singing
NYCOS Go for Gold – Inspiring Music Education through Singing
Sunday, May 5, 2019 10:00 – Sunday, May 5, 2019 16:00
RSNO CENTRE, GLASGOW
United Kingdom
Masterclass

The NYCOS musicianship programme is based on Kodály method and used in all our regional choirs, in schools across the UK and beyond. A series of structured progressive lessons and games lead the young person from Bronze level to the Gold award which is recognised as the equivalent of ABRSM Grade 5 Theory.

Delivered by NYCOS Education Director Lucinda Geoghegan, our training series provides guidance for adults teaching musicianship skills to young singers in schools, choirs and other settings. Every year around 70 of our choir members sit the Gold Award, and we are looking for people trained to deliver the programme at this level.

This day’s training is aimed at those who are already following the NYCOS Go for Silver musicianship programme, and takes us to a whole new level of more advanced musical concepts, providing material that stretches and challenges but still retains the sense of fun.

It will be a hands on, activity packed day, sure to give you lots of ideas to take away and use, even if you are not currently teaching Go for Gold.

About Kodályhub

The Kodály HUB is a public on-line Knowledge Centre in which a Musicbook, a Community, a Calendar and further resources are available to assist teachers in their everyday work. The Songbook contains several hundred songs and music listening materials from all over the world. The songs are analysed using many key, searchable parameters and (when relevant) accompanied by a game or movement activity to support the teaching objectives and increase the enjoyment of the lesson.

The Kodály HUB was created under an Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership Programme Kodály HUB - Sing. Learn. Share.

In 2019, 2020, 2021, the maintenance of the Kodály HUB has been supported by the National Cultural Fund of Hungary and the "Everyday Singing" programme of the Ministry of Human Capacities of Hungary, the fee of the logo registration was covered by the National Research and Development Office of Hungary.
