It will serve specifically as core material for online training programs in the field of Kodály-based musical training and can be used both for self-study purposes as well as supplementary teaching material in a more traditional face-to-face instruction. The study package can also be successfully used in the methodology and solfège module of teacher training courses. Kodály’s 333 singing exercises contain additional material that can be practiced together with this study package.
The tasks in this handbook introduce students to the world of singing-based musical skill development, following the methodology of one of the most prominent representatives of Kodály-based music education, Erzsébet Hegyi (see Solfege according to the Kodály Concept, Vol. 1.). While learning how to adapt relative solmization and rhythm syllables in the process of musical skill development, students will receive in-depth guidance in four essential skill development areas: improvisation, sight-reading, dictation, and musical memory development.
