Kodály Ireland, in association with DCU School of Arts Education & Movement, invites you to attend its annual international summer course: "Active Music Making". The course aims to give each participant the opportunity to:
Develop as a musician and as an educator
- Learn new teaching tools and strategies
- Find new ways to think about music
- Discover strategies that will facilitate teachers in bringing students to understand music as an artistic language which will in turn nurture the human spirit
Led by renowned Hungarian and Irish tutors, the emphasis is on active, experience-based learning. In line with Kodály’s teachings, singing is at the heart of the course. Class levels are graded and therefore all levels of musical experience (from basic to advanced) are welcome.
Active Music Making
Classes include musicianship (solfège), choral conducting, music teaching methods, choir and chamber music. All levels of musical ability welcome from professional musicians to amateurs and including beginners. Suited to:
Early Years teachers
- Primary teachers
- Post-primary music teachers
- Third-level music lecturers
- Vocal and instrumental teachers
- Musicianship teachers in music schools
- Music students
- Conductors, singers and performers
Activities
The KI summer course is designed to develop all participants' musicianship skills and to support teaching and learning in all music learning environments (early years, primary, secondary, third level, vocal/instrumental, choral)
Small classes are structured in a way such that participants of any musical level will benefit in an appropriate and encouraging environment.
