IKC General Level 3 (Stage 3) - Full programme
The third level of the training shows a great variety in terms of selection of material from a wide range of classical musical styles. The musical material of the previous levels is supplemented with modal musical examples partly through the use of early music material (medieval and Renaissance music) and a selection of folk music material. The intensive development of intervallic hearing will enable participants to sight-sing simpler non-tonal musical examples. The polyphonic examples include a great number of exercises composed by Kodály, choral works that are also selected from a wide range of classical musical style periods. The consolidation of harmonic hearing and knowledge of harmony and form is an important goal and also a connection point for progressing to the advanced level of the programme.
As this is the exit level of the general level training, participants will be able to feel that they are in the possession of musical skills and musical knowledge that enable them to teach music for children with confidence and at high standard. The level of difficulty will be adjusted to the exam requirements, but it will take maximum account of the members of the study groups and the possible slight differences in regards to prior musical experience.
The methodological module focuses on how the participants can most effectively utilise the acquired knowledge and experiences in their own work as music educators. The preparation of curricula and lesson plans, as well as the selection of musical repertoire, are an important part of the training.
